About the project
The film that's carefully slid in, the views that are counted as small promises, and the sensitivity of the film that marks out our room for manoeuvre... Against all expectations, this return to film looks like a refuge. An unexpected, almost salutary parenthesis. I find myself appreciating this slowness, this necessary attention, this technique that forces me to slow down, to compose each image, to think more calmly. It's as if I were rediscovering photography with new eyes - more naive, more curious. Framing. To wait. Doubt. Deciding... With the magic of a medium: this Hasselblad 500C/M, from the 70s, a little jewel, purely mechanical, that I treat like a respectable ancestor. And the inimitable rendering of film, emotion revealed. Sublimated by Hahnemühle archival paper: this living grain, this raw, honest, irrevocable material, born of the film's intimate chemistry. The fruit of this exploration: twenty-six images made over nine months, between France and Quebec, my chosen ports of call as a backdrop. Images that are close to my heart.
About the artist
Photography is a powerful vector, sometimes a mirror of our realities, beliefs or emotions, sometimes an open door on others, their world, creating a bridge and a meeting point. These commercial or personal photographic projects, whether commissioned or not, allow me to express myself and reveal a little of myself at every opportunity. Thanks to my personal explorations, I'm able to experiment, renew myself and pursue the path that nourishes my practice.
